Handling Gigantic Masses
Ships start their life on land and return there once in a while for overhaul, repair or maintenance. A sophisticated and efficient way of launching new vessels and docking vessels during their lifetime is by using
a shiplift system
.
Shiplift systems are superior to other docking systems, because ships can be
transferred
from the platform to a parking area, leaving the shiplift free for other docking activities. Therefore the shiplift system in general includes also a
transfer system
.
In the past, the first shiplifts were driven by hydraulic cylinders. In the early eighties, Bosch Rexroth supplied its first
winch driven shiplift
. Nowadays the company supplies shiplifts with winches driven by hydraulic motors or
electric (asynchrone) servo motors
.
Rexroth shiplifts and
transfer systems
are based on the latest state of the art drive and control system technology, ensuring a highly reliable, safe, operational friendly and economical way of docking and undocking of vessels.
Rexroth shiplift systems are often supplied on a
turn-key basis
, including steel structural platform, transfer system, erection and certification/classification.
Rexroth supplied shiplifts and transfer systems from 100 tons unto 30,000 tons capacity designed for all type of vessels such as fishing vessels, (mega-)yachts, container vessels, naval vessels etc..
