ESD

ESD (Electro Static Discharge) stands for the electrostatic discharge of charged objects or people which is often unnoticed due to its low energy. ESD is caused by electric charging that is generated by friction on various materials or by the influence of electric fields. Voltages of up to 10,000 V can develop from static discharge by movements at a manual workstation.

ESDS (Electro Static Discharge Sensitive Device) stands for components that could be damaged or destroyed by static discharge, due to their electrical properties and internal structure. This damage leads to an irreversible change in the device and a reduction in the service life of the ESDS device.

The components in the ESD program are either electrostatically conductive or deflective and create a protected complete system –known as the Rexroth ESD workstation. Rexroth’s components fulfill the requirements for the protection of ESDSs (DIN EN 61340-5-1). The individual national personnel safety regulations must be observed during assembly and connection.

ESD is the guiding parameter for customized products. Select ESD=yes when ordering and the product will be configured to be fully conductive. You will automatically receive ESD conductive rollers, feet, and cover caps, as well as corresponding table tops and material levels.
